Galilee is governed by a Council of community members on a voluntary basis who are elected at the Annual General Meeting or otherwise co-opted to the Council for a three year term. The Galilee Council meets at least six times per year, alternating between meetings that focus on strategic issues and engaging with reports from senior staff and Council committees. The Council also convenes an annual Strategic Planning Day that includes the participation of Galilee staff. The Council operates with Corporate Governance Guidelines, which were reviewed in 2007.

Galilee’s Vision Statement

Galilee contributes to the community by providing flexible quality care to empower children and young people to achieve their potential.

Galilee has served the Canberra community through caring for disadvantaged children and young people for over twenty years.
Galilee’ is a community based not-for-profit organisation that addresses the immediate needs of children and young people while also concentrating on prevention strategies. Galilee emphasises the value of each individual and promotes social justice, equity, access and participation. The focus of our work will always be to work for and on behalf of the most disadvantaged children and young people in our community.
