Workplace giving
Workplace Giving is an Australian Government initiative established to help community organisations raise much needed extra funds.
By joining Galilee’s Workplace Giving scheme/program you will be helping us make a difference in the lives of Canberra’s disadvantaged babies, children and young people. A small weekly donation can go a long way in helping Galilee provide its vital services and programs.
Your contribution helps Galilee to:

Support disadvantaged babies, children and young people in the Canberra region

Give babies, children and young people a few little extras when they are first placed into Foster Care
-
Provide supervised contact between children placed in Foster Care and their birth families
-
Provide excursions for the young people attending the Galilee School, our Secondary School for disadvantaged teenagers
-
Purchase much needed equipment for use in all of our programs, and
-
Assist Galilee with ongoing training and support for all their staff.
Tax Benefits
Workplace Giving donations are deducted from pre-tax employee salaries, which means that your individual taxable income is reduced.
A $20 pre-tax donation costs the donor $13.70 (assuming 31.5% tax rate) but Galilee will receive the full $20.
Galilee has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, which means that workplace giving contributions qualify for an immediate tax deduction.
There’s no need to collect, keep and claim receipts. Individual income tax returns are not affected by Workplace Giving.
Employer Donation Matching
Some Workplace Giving partners choose to further boost the contribution provided by employees by matching the amount dollar-for-dollar at a corporate level. This provides further tax deductions for the employer and means that more funds are raised for Galilee. This is of course an optional approach to Workplace Giving.

The Australian Taxation office suggests using an organisation that specialises in Workplace Giving program administration. Galilee has chosen The Charities Aid Foundation:

Galilee is a community based not-for-profit organisation that addresses the immediate needs of children and young people while also concentrating on prevention strategies.
