Foster Care Information Sessions

Release Date:
Wed, 22/09/2010

There are children in our community who need safe, nurturing Foster Homes for a few days, weeks or even their whole lifetime. Training new carers takes time. So if you are interested in finding out whether you may be able to become the shining light in the life of a child, do it now! Don’t wait.

The demand for people to step up and become foster carers is growing.

Galilee foster carers are: single, couples, and/or families, people with time and space for children and young people, living in the Canberra region, from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds, committed to providing a stable, supportive and nurturing home, from all adult age groups, and people with or without children.

Babies and children need a home where they will feel loved, accepted and safe. Many of these children have come from difficult circumstances, especially leading up to being placed in foster care. They may have experienced abuse, neglect, ongoing emotional crises, domestic violence and instability.

Carers are part of a team assisting children in need. Your Galilee Case Worker will work with you to secure the best outcomes for the children in your care. You will have extensive training, receive some reimbursement and we will provide 24 hour support.
